History Of Red Fort


The Red Fort was built in the 17th century as the palace of Shah Jahan and was made when he used it as the capital city. The valuable property which was kept inside the Fort was snatched away. The British Plundered valuables like Bahadur Shah Zafar’s crown, Shah Jahan’s cup of wine, and much more and sent them to Great Britain. The Red Fort is built in the shape of an octagon. The Kohinoor Diamond was once a part of the decoration of this Red Fort, but after its capture in India, it went to the British. There were three gates inside the Red Fort and this Fort is one of the largest forts in Delhi. The two main entrances to the building are Lahori Gate and Delhi Gate.
