The Red Fort was built in the 17th century as the palace of Shah Jahan and was made when he used it as the capital city. This palace was designed by Ustad Ahmad Lahori, the object of the Red Fort on the holy river was built on the banks of the Yamuna. It took 10 years to build this enormous Red Fort. It has been the residence of many emperors and kings who ruled it since the beginning. The Red Fort is named Red Fort because it is red sandstone. The Red Fort is built from the place where the Prime Minister of India delivered his speech on Independence Day. When Shah Jahan ruled this fort, it was called Delhi. After this, in the year 1793 a revolution emperor Nadirshah captured the Red Fort and snatched valuable property from the Fort. The Marathas defeated the 16th Mughal Emperor Shah Alam and ruled Delhi for 20 years, later they were defeated by the British, and all valuable property, including a Noor Diamond, was kept inside the Fort. The valuable property which was kept inside the Fort was snatched away. The British Plundered valuables like Bahadur Shah Zafar’s crown, Shah Jahan’s cup of wine, and much more and sent them to Great Britain. The Red Fort Monument was once a magnificent one made of precious stones and metals. The Red Fort is very nice to see, this Fort is the pride of Delhi. The Red Fort is built in the shape of an octagon. The Kohinoor Diamond was once a part of the decoration of this Red Fort, but after its capture in India, it went to the British. There were three gates inside the Red Fort and this Fort is one of the largest forts in Delhi. The two main entrances to the building are Lahori Gate and Delhi Gate. Lahori Gate is the main entrance to the district while Delhi Gate is the Public entrance at the southern end of the building.
